ODD MAN OUT
The piece is an international collaboration between two North American theatre companies, Theatre C and Cuchame Theatre Co, with recognized Argentinian theatre company, Teatro Ciego, who over its 15 year history has focused on creating pitch-black experiences developed and performed by blind and low-vision artists. In line with that mission, the US premiere of the piece in Fall 2020 will also include an American cast of majority blind and low-vision artists, bringing awareness to the creative impact of an often-ignored artistic community.
The partnership is the largest international collaboration these companies has ever undertaken, and was kicked off by the Spanish premiere of the piece in November 2019, in Buenos Aires, Argentina, to rave reviews. Planned for the fall of 2020, the US premiere will be preceded by an extended residency at the Teatro Ciego space in Argentina, where an American cast will train in the Teatro Ciego method. The project is more than a theater piece: it is an international exchange that seeks to create lasting relationships, catalyze creative collaborations across continents, and bring innovative new methods to the American theater landscape.
